Visit of Minister Tomislav Momirović

The Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Momirović, announced today that the state will provide additional support for the further development and expansion of the Copper Mill in Sevojno, which exports more than 85 percent of its products and supplies our entire defense industry.

After visiting this company, which employs more than 1,100 people, Momirović pointed out that the war in Eastern Europe and the energy crisis, as well as all other challenges that follow political instability at the global level, affect our industry.

“We are aware that without industry there is no perspective and no economic growth. It remains for us to overcome challenges and solve problems with joint efforts, because the copper rolling mill is important not only for Užice and the Zlatibor district, but for the whole country.”, the Minister stressed. According to him, it is necessary for the state to support the investor in order to further develop production and placement of products on foreign markets.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Copper Mill, Desko Nikitović, stated that 120 new workers were hired last year and added that the opening of a large solar power plant is planned at this Mill. He reported that during today's meeting they talked about the price of electricity and other energy sources that are important for the functioning of the factory, adding that it is important to solve the issue of connection to the highway and the extension of the free customs zone here.

The Mayor of Užice, Mrs. Jelena Raković Radivojević, stated that this company not only pays all its obligations to the state, banks and employees on time, but is also at the top of the list of the best companies in Serbia.
Despite all the negative developments on the market due to the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, production is increasing, exports are growing and on the other hand new young workers who want to stay in Uzice are employed here, said Raković Radivojević.
